Image assets

Image uploads are a staged creator feature. A PixelRifts deployment can keep the feature unavailable until private storage, isolated processing, moderation coverage, and policy operations are ready; the Workshop will say that the service is unavailable instead of sending a file somewhere unsafe.

PixelRifts is adding private image uploads in stages. The first supported format is a still PNG. An uploaded file does not immediately become public or enter your game.

Before you upload

You must own the image, have a license that permits this use, or use a genuine CC0/public-domain source. The declaration is a record of what you told PixelRifts; it does not prove ownership. Keep the original project file, purchase receipt, license, and source link where applicable.

The initial limits are:

• PNG only (.png and image/png must agree);
• 5 MB per upload;
• at most 4096 × 4096 and 16 million pixels;
• still, non-interlaced RGB or RGBA;
• 25 active image assets and 50 MB of originals per account;
• up to 10 immutable versions of one asset.

Export an RGBA PNG when you need transparency. Animated PNG, SVG, GIF, JPEG, palettes, embedded profiles, and metadata are not accepted in this first slice.

What the states mean

Quarantined means the original is private and unavailable to Rifts. Processing decodes the pixels within strict limits and creates a new standardized PNG without metadata. Pending review means the safe copy is waiting for moderation. Approved is the only state that can be attached to a project or served. Rejected means that version cannot be used. Disabled means a previously approved version was removed from delivery after review or a report.

Replacing an image creates a new version; it does not alter an already reviewed file. Existing published Rift versions remain immutable.

Reports and copyright

Players can report an approved asset for copyright, inappropriate content, privacy, or another concern. Moderators can disable delivery while reviewing evidence. If you receive a copyright complaint, provide the source and license information you retained. Do not upload a work merely because it is easy to find online or generated by a tool whose usage rights you have not checked.

The in-product report form is safety intake, not a formal legal notice address. PixelRifts must publish reviewed notice and appeal instructions before creator uploads are opened to the public.

Public creator uploads remain unavailable until persistent storage, isolated processing, backup/restore, moderation coverage, and the required legal/policy review are ready.
